  Came in this AM after a morning run.  Fresh baked pastries smelled so good.  I bought 6 and everyone was pleased very good stuff.  Still warm out the oven.  Highly recommend if you are in the area.

  I've been coming to Kern river every year for as long as I can remember.  this is honestly the first time I've encountered rude locals...  
  
  the food was actually pretty good.  But the staff was really unwelcoming.  came in with like 8 other people.  I'm ordering for three of us. I  walk up,  ask for 3 burritos,  and an orange juice. (for myself)  the lady immediately grabs a cup for me. I look back at the others and ask what they want to drink.  my sister says she'll also wants an orange juice.  the lady rolls her eyes and grabs another cup, as if irritated that she had top grab another cup.  I look back at my brother to ask what he wants,  again miss eyeroll at the counter strikes.  I'm thinking, I was obviously  going  to order them drinks,  why she so mad? just wait till you get ALL the drink orders before you go cup grabbing? idk..
  
  So I pay the $50  for the 3 burritos and three drinks.  and the they gave us 1 small salsa for each.  which is cool.  I mean,  I can ask for more if I need it, right?   which I did.  we all did.  it needed it. each time though, we got an eyeroll from the cook.  (they were big on the eyerolls in that place)  my sister however,  had a half burrito left and when she asked for an extra salsa to go, the chef told her "I already gave you guys extra salsa" which she hadn't,  she had given US extra salsa which we used,  but not my sister.  at this point we decided to just drop it and go.  honestly they made us feel like we were bothering them by ordering from there.  I mean,  if you don't like serving food and drinks,  maybe don't do that for a living?
  
  found a better burrito btw, 3 mins away. riverkern general store on Sierra! and the people are super friendly and welcoming.

  Went here with my daughter and some of her friends on 7/19/2019 . The place is really cute inside and very clean . Staff is very friendly and greet you when you walk in . We all had smoothies and refreshing tea and fresh baked cookies and sat at the bar and relaxed before our rafting trip down the Kern River with Sierra South Mountain Sports . I totally recommend stopping by here for some great food . They also have fresh wildflower honey for sale here !!

  This place has it together!! Great sandwiches, coffee, cookies, treats, wine, all in one place. They always serve you with a smile. If you need to finish up work and would like to have coffee, they have internet. If your a student you can sit and type up your paper and they never bother you. It reminds me of the tv show friends..

  I would have loved to give Big Blue Bear a 5 star review, but there are several easy fixes that need to occur. The hot latte I ordered was excellent and so is the breakfast burrito. The cafe advertises as an "Internet cafe"... see attached photo, but despite ordering food and drinks... the management would not allow patrons to use the internet on this "busy" Memorial Day weekend. It was a Sunday and I've never seen Kernville this uncrowded! The management claims that passwords will not be given out on weekends because it "interferes with credit card billing."  Again.. easy fix.,, don't advertise as an Internet cafe.  Finally... a long wait for ordering... easy fix... train the employees that are standing around... to also take orders.
